VTB Azerbaijan to support solo concert of pianist Riad Mammadov

VTB (Azerbaijan) acted as a financial partner of the solo concert of pianist Riad Mammadov, which will take place on December 15 at the International Mugam Center. The event is organized by the Russian House in Baku as part of the year of cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia in Azerbaijan.

The concert will feature works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Frederic Chopin, improvisations of Partita by Johann Sebastian Bach, Mammadov's own piano pieces and his author's transcription of Vagif Mustafazadeh's play "Waiting for Aziza".

Riad Mammadov was born in 1989 in Baku. Participant of music festivals in Russia, Azerbaijan and Canada. One of the few professional jazz-mugham musicians in the world. Laureate of international competitions in Azerbaijan, Russia, France, Belgium, Sweden and Canada. He has performed with renowned orchestras and participated in international festivals. In his work, Mammadov combines different genres and musical directions. After graduating from the Moscow Conservatory and postgraduate studies in piano, as well as theoretical postgraduate studies as a musicologist, he performs works from the classical academic repertoire and, at the same time, develops mugam and jazz-mugam, which have become the sphere of his stage and scientific interests in Russia and the world.
